Week in Review 4/8

+ Just when I think I've got the nursery color scheme picked out, I see something that makes me reconsider.

+ OMG BUTTERBEER CUPCAKES!!!!

+ You can never have too many tote bag tutorials. Of course if you saw my ratio of tote-bag-tutorials-saved (tons) to tote-bag-tutorials-completed (one), you might think otherwise.

+ Speaking of more tutorials to have in case I ever take the time to complete them, these finger-knitted bracelets look awesome.

Have a wonderful weekend! I suspect my weekend will be full of trim painting. Yay for getting projects done, but boo for actually having to do them.

Week in Review 2/18

078

The Week in Review is back! Party? Mildly-amused dance? Anyways...

I have abandoned creatively organizing photos on paper, but Elise makes me want to change my mind. Maybe after baby.

A new Illustrator trick to try.

Love these orange and gray photos! Orange can be an intimidating color but these shades are pefection.

Pantone Fall 2011 color picks!

This weekend's to-do list is filled with home improvement! Hopefully at least 75% of it will get done. Have a wonderful weekend!

Week in Review: 10/29

someecards.com - If your Halloween costume makes no sense whatsoever I'll just assume you're dressed as Inception

Remember my dry-erase weekly menu? Here's the same concept for a perpetual calendar. So easy and clever.

The bummer in my pursuit to not eat things without weird preservatives (Exceptions made for Oreos and Halloween candy of course.) is that it's hard to find easy, instant, warm food options. Until I was introduced to making my own frozen burritos. I left off the jalapenos and added onions. Yum.

This headboard is amazing, but even more so when you see how the chevron pattern was made from normal striped fabric.

This is my new favorite site. The product descriptions (especially for the headache and allergy medicines) are hysterical, but then when you click on "bored?", the magic really begins.

Have a wonderful Halloween weekend!

I wish my weekend plans involved the above. But there will be some barbecue, so you take what you can get.

I never wanted to go to Iceland, but it looks pretty fantastic.

In honor of my new stainless steel dishwasher and my new stainless steel stove (As soon as I pick it out. What are your thoughts on gas vs. electric?): how to polish stainless steel.

Adorable spray-painted cups

Nom nom nom...tasty dessert from Redhead Recipes.

I really really really want to sew more but I haven't made the time. This is a tempting project.

Can I live here?

The big party is next weekend so I might have to try one of these fancy tea recipes.

I was kind of wanting to put a map in our office but I'm intrigued by this first idea.

Happy weekend! : )

Week in Review: 8/6

So this is where I would put a picture of something except Flickr updated their photo page this week and for reasons that probably involve science and therefore my brain can't really comprehend, I can't share pictures. Or really do anything with my pictures but view them. If I click on "Share This" the Internet's wheels turn and then...nothing. Nada. "Done" without accomplishing anything. Are you Flickr-dependent and experiencing similar issues? I know there are other ways to put images into blog posts but I have this freakish attachment to Flickr so until we're resolved our disagreement, you'll have to live without my poorly-lighted and focused pictures.

I baked the tastiest thing I have every baked last night. It was easy-peasy, tough to share, and if you use a mini-muffin pan it's ridiculous how many you can justify eating in a five-minute span. Ladies and gentlemen, Pioneer Woman's Individual Raspberry Cobblers. You're welcome.

Oh! Just visited Flickr's help page and I'm not alone in my troubles and they're working on it! Whew.

Peach slice wrapped in pancetta with basil and grilled? Yes please.

Affordable art

Our books are boxed up in the basement until we can get the hardwood floors and then new bookcases, so let's look at other people's pretty book storage.

If you've ever had to discuss "social media strategy", this is the best thing ever. (Rated PG-13 for language)

Happy weekend-ing!

Week in Review: 7/30

The tomatoes are getting bigger!

I am open to all suggestions on how to kill bugs.

These invitations make the one I made look like poo.

Canning is on the list of things I want to do. Eventually.

Your bookcases fill me with joy.

If this doesn't make you want to have, you're probably cold and heartless. Sorry, but it's true.

Speaking of babies, my weekend plans including visiting a very tiny baby and seeing my friend's boyfriend's 90s cover band. I don't know how this weekend can't be awesome. Hope yours is lovely too!

Week in Review: 7/23

pesto with tomatoes
I've been pretty lazy lately, but last night I made pesto. Go me! Of course it's the easiest sauce ever, but at least I didn't eat Moe's queso for dinner. Again.

I'm often too lazy (see above) to attempt many smitten kitchen recipes, but normally just the recipe title is enough to make my jaw drop and drool to pour fourth over my desk. Example: raspberry brown sugar gratin

I now must visit the Hudson Valley.

Inspired Bride is starting a typography series!

Gift bags from newspaper? Brilliant!

Toward the end of the first paragraph where she says, "I like Jcrew and 20 dollar soaps and Bravo TV and also really alot of Britney Spears.", I found my new favorite blog.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week in Review: 7/16

june 24

This picture  makes me smile.

Avocado fries? Yes please!

I haven't bought a wall calendar in years but oh do I want this.

This office makes me drool.

I did not know there was a summer Hitchcock series. Must go to one or some.

There might be some Shakespeare in the Park this weekend along with some biking, reading, movie(s)-watching and unpacking (still!).

Week in Review: 7/9

march 21
Do you know what this weekend is? Other than my sister Laura and dear friend Jenny's birthdays? It's Jane Austen Festival time at Locust Grove (pictured)!

So let's start with righteous literary anger at people who think Jane is only about bonnets and finger sandwiches and people who use Twilight to sell Wuthering Heights.

My sewing nook is mostly organized! Let's celebrate with a list of sewing necessities.

Instead of sending out "We Moved" cards, I thought I would just send out housewarming cookout invites to kill two birds with one stone. But if I change my mind (always a possibility) and go with a "We Moved" card, it will be this one. (Probably. I could change my mind.)

This week I will resume learning to ride my bike (inspired by this) so I can start bike commuting and I will start working out again...for the 392th time (inspired by part 1 and part 2).

And if you're reading this in a reader I've been fanagling with the actual blog appearance and finally figured out how to add my own fancy tabs (and not just the standard Blogger ones) so let me know if you like or it's too...something not great. Is the peach link type too difficult to read? Does it look too serious? Am I over analyzing this? (Yes.)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week in Review: 7/2

I wish this is what my weekend plans looked like, but we'll be painting. The whole time. Wish us luck!

John and Sherry recently shared how to pick paint finish, just in time for painting weekend. Yay!

I love this menu planner! (the top one)

I read lots of cooking blogs, or skim them for recipes, but with Joy, even the directions are fun to read.

Lord Voldemort tweets.
And it is awesome. (Especially if you're not easily offended.)

Happy July 4th everyone! Have wonderful weekends!

Week in Review: 6/25

june 13

Catalog Living might be my new favorite blog.

Hello, dream home.

The to-do list of crafty decor projects just got longer.

Elise's photo books inspire me every single time.

Week in Review: 6/18

For those of you keeping tally at home, this is my 300th post. Crazy.
june 15

Only in the past month or so have I jumped on the Hyperbole and a Half bandwagon and I'm so glad I did.

I love font jokes and hate Comic Sans.

I wouldn't say I hate soccer, but yeah, I don't get it.

I like this idea of hanging bags for my office maybe.

I'm thinking about some stenciling for the house. Maybe the entry hall? Will I hate myself for taking this on?

Could you be my new favorite song? Likely.

(And really YouTube, why can't I embed something at 500 pixels wide anymore? I don't want to redo my blog layout just because of your weirdness.)

Have a happy weekend! I'll be unpacking but at least my little sister will be here to join me and Lee in our labors! And she's better at heavy lifting than I am!

Week in Review: 6/4

We've been homeowners for a week now! And I really need to figure out what to do with all these gorgeous flowers in our yard. You can see more on my Flickr. Gardening plans are on hold though until the box situation is under control. In other news...

I do not enjoy science, but I'm excited to learn that scientists have named a pheromone after Mr. Darcy, you know, because of his effect on the ladies. This is probably the coolest thing science has done since the Internet.

Once these boxes are tamed and the wall color situation is approved, the crafty projects are rolling forth. This wonderful dry erase board from paper n stitch might be a good start.

Cute printable cards via How About Orange, including some "Just Moved" cards. I'm thinking we might do a combo "Just Moved/Come to our Cookout" cards in the next few months.

Your Wishcake might have the cutest crafting nook ever.

I might have to staple this reminder to my head until I've finished packing and painting and sorting and organizing.

The nice thing about the Internet and blogging is the realization of how we're all so much alike in some ways. Like how Lee and I have had this exact same conversation.

And oh sweet joys look what YouTube just showed me!!! (And what is up with YouTube videos not wanting to be under 500 pixels?! But anyways...)

Week in Review: 5/21

may 10
We start moving in one week! Let's play pretend and pretend I've started packing! How on top of things I must be! Anyways...

Typography + Mustaches = Magic

Hopefully once I've settled into my office/crafty space, there will be lots of sewing projects, like this ruffle tote.

Strawberry Lemonade Cupcakes. Hello.

This week at Young House Love, I learned about dual flush toilet systems, which are already on Lee's to-do list, and got a little misty to learn they had their bean baby!

Happy weekend-ing everyone!

Week in Review: 5/7

may 2

My new favorite blog is thx thx thx and this is one of my favorite posts.

I'm increasingly getting into natural/organic stuffs so here's some information on green beauty products.

Cubic Dreams and I have the same dream workspace. Oh so nice.

This makes me laugh. And maybe cry a little. But mostly laugh.

Week in Review: 4/30

A DIY lamp via Mod Podge Rocks.

I can't wait to have a desk and office space again once we move. I might need to craft this mail sorter in celebration from My Sweet Savannah.

I just came home from Home Depot with 13 color swatch cards and the vaguest of ideas about what to do with them. I do see an affection for robins egg blue as seen on Apartment Therapy.

How to have a classy modern beehive from Jessica Schroeder at What I Wore.

Despite living in Louisville, my Derby plans involve Netflix and getting some projects wrapped up so I can focus on packing moving home decorating. Have wonderful weekends!

And if you're into nitty gritty house purchasing details: Inspection went well and we've reached an agreement with the home owners about the few things that need to be fixed. The only thing I think can go wrong at this point is the appraisal and that should happen in the next two weeks. I'm hoping we can close around the end of May.

Week in Review: 4/23

WE HAVE A SIGNED CONTRACT ON A HOUSE!!!
home :)
Here she is. I think she needs some kind of name. Should we go with a normal name like Charles, my camera, or an estate name like Pemberley. Hmm...we should probably wait until we know her better to work on this.

Inspection's on Wednesday and once that has been blissfully dissolved the psychotic planning will begin!
On to Friday's links...

Adorable city prints via A Cup of Jo. A lovely idea for somewhere in the house!

I'm thinking about gray for our bedroom? Little Brown Pen knows the perfect shade. (Actually, I'm thinking gray, white and plum!)

New house means a house party is coming soon. Hopefully we'll be ready while it's still warm enough for a cookout. Party Perfect recently featured a lovely housewarming party.

I'm wanting to get a new bedroom set (since we're currently using the one I've had since 8th grade, which is lovely, but perhaps time for a change) and enjoyed this collection of bedside tables from oh, hello friend.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! Thanks again for all your happy thoughts and encouragement throughout this whole process!

Week in Review: 4/16

I'm adding Mallorca to my list of places to visit.

I haven't been able to get this recipe for blackberry cinnamon rolls out of my head.

You never know when you'll need some adorable invitation templates.

Who needs to be productive when you can make 3-D floor plans?! (Not that making 3-D floor plans isn't being productive because of course it is! Especially if you might buy a house soonish.)
